About the Attraction

Located in Coomera on the northern Gold Coast, Dreamworld is Australia’s largest theme park and one of the country’s leading family entertainment destinations. Spanning a vast area filled with thrill rides, family attractions, wildlife experiences, and immersive themed lands, the park offers a full-day adventure for visitors of all ages.

In 2026, Dreamworld continues to evolve with major updates and new attractions. The park recently unveiled Rivertown, its largest expansion in years. This new land introduces Jungle Rush, a state-of-the-art family thrill coaster featuring forward and backward launch elements, and Murrissippi Motors, a themed family driving adventure. Rivertown has quickly become a highlight zone and a must-visit area for thrill seekers and families alike.

For adrenaline lovers, Dreamworld remains home to Steel Taipan, one of Australia’s most powerful multi-launch roller coasters. In addition, The Giant Drop continues to hold the title as the tallest and fastest free-fall drop tower in the Southern Hemisphere, reaching speeds of approximately 135 km/h. Another major thrill addition is King Claw, the massive mega gyro-swing that replaced The Claw in 2025 and is now the largest ride of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Visitors should note that the Mick Doohan Motocoaster, once Australia’s only motorbike roller coaster, officially and permanently closed on January 27, 2026, and is no longer operational.

Beyond high-speed thrills, Dreamworld also features wildlife encounters, family-friendly attractions, and entertainment zones, making it suitable for toddlers, teens, and adults alike. The park’s convenient location, around 30 to 40 minutes from Surfers Paradise, makes it an easy addition to any Gold Coast itinerary.

Fun Fact: While Steel Taipan is one of the park’s headline coasters, the true Southern Hemisphere record-holder at Dreamworld is The Giant Drop, which still delivers Australia’s tallest and fastest free-fall experience.

Book your Dreamworld tickets with Thrillark for seamless entry and experience the Gold Coast’s ultimate theme park adventure.

Dreamworld Experiences

1. High-Speed Rides & Coasters

Dreamworld remains one of the Gold Coast’s top destinations for thrill seekers, anchored by major attractions like Steel Taipan, the park’s multi-launch coaster featuring inversions and powerful acceleration. Another record-breaking highlight is The Giant Drop, which continues to hold the title as the tallest and fastest free-fall drop tower in the Southern Hemisphere, reaching speeds of approximately 135 km/h.

The park is also home to King Claw, the massive mega gyro-swing that replaced The Claw in 2025 and is now the largest ride of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

2. Maintenance & Ride Updates – February 2026

Sky Voyager: Closed for major maintenance throughout February 2026 (scheduled reopening March 29).
Tail Spin: Reopened February 5, 2026 after a short maintenance break.
The Gold Coaster: Currently operating but scheduled to close for maintenance at the end of March 2026.
Motocoaster: Permanently retired as of early February 2026 and no longer operational.
Guests visiting in early 2026 should check the daily ride status board upon arrival for the latest updates.

3. Rivertown – Dreamworld’s Newest Land

Dreamworld’s biggest recent expansion is Rivertown, a newly opened themed land that has quickly become a park highlight.

The star attraction here is Jungle Rush, a state-of-the-art family thrill coaster featuring forward and backward launch elements and immersive jungle theming. It delivers high-energy fun while remaining accessible for families.

Rivertown also includes Murrissippi Motors, an interactive driving adventure designed for younger visitors and families.
For guests seeking the newest “must-ride” attractions in 2026, Rivertown is now the premier destination inside the park alongside Steel Taipan.

4. Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland & Ocean Parade (Former DreamWorks Area)

The former DreamWorks Experience branding was officially retired in 2023. While some rides remain, they have been fully rethemed and no longer feature Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, or Madagascar characters.

Today, the area forms part of Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland and Ocean Parade. For example:
  • The former Kung Fu Panda Dodgems are now Deep Sea Dodgems
  • Character meet-and-greets featuring DreamWorks franchises are no longer available
These zones now focus on family-friendly attractions and colourful seaside-style theming rather than movie-based branding.

5. Tiger Island – Big Cats Experience

Tiger Island is exclusively dedicated to tigers. The precinct is home to Sumatran and Bengal tigers, with daily presentations highlighting conservation, enrichment activities, and wildlife education.

Important clarification: Dreamworld does not house lions.

For additional wildlife encounters, visitors can explore WILD with Australian Geographic, located adjacent to Tiger Island. This precinct features native Australian animals such as koalas, kangaroos, and dingoes.

Dining and Refreshments

Dreamworld offers a wide range of food and beverage options throughout the park, from quick snacks to themed sit-down dining experiences.

Important Policy Update (2026):
Dreamworld has a strict No Outside Food or Drink policy. Guests are not permitted to bring their own meals or snacks into the park.

Exceptions:
  • Infant food
  • Genuine medical conditions or allergy requirements
  • If you plan to bring your own food, you must store it in your car or at the adjacent water park.
Insider Tip:

If you have a park-to-park ticket, you can head next door to WhiteWater World, which allows BYO food and has shaded picnic areas. Guests may also request a temporary pass-out to access their car if needed.

Primary Dining Venues

Menu Highlights:
  • Southern-style fried chicken
  • Loaded fries
  • Classic comfort meals
  • Apple pie and desserts
This is the go-to option for visitors wanting a proper seated lunch experience rather than fast food.

Menu Highlights:
  • Gourmet burgers
  • Foot-long hot dogs
  • Chicken tenders
  • Fries and soft drinks

Menu Highlights:
  • “Artie Pies”
  • Bush-tucker inspired flavours
  • Specialty coffee
  • Light café meals
Dining here supports hospitality training programs for Indigenous participants, making it a meaningful place to grab a coffee or snack.

Island Noodle Hut (Tiger Island)

The Vibe: Asian-inspired street-food style dining with views near Tiger Island.

Menu Highlights:
  • Fresh noodle bowls
  • Stir-fries
  • Lighter rice dishes
  • Refreshing beverages
This is one of the better options if you’re looking for something lighter and less heavy than burgers and fried food.

Snacks & Treats Throughout the Park

You’ll also find smaller kiosks offering:
  • Ice cream and frozen treats
  • Coffee and cold beverages
  • Popcorn and quick snacks
Plan your meals outside peak hours (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM) for shorter wait times.

Key Attractions of Dreamworld

  • Rivertown – The New Crown Jewel
The biggest and most exciting addition to Dreamworld is Rivertown, a multi-million-dollar jungle-themed precinct that has quickly become the park’s most popular area.

Its headline attraction is Jungle Rush, a world-first switchback roller coaster that launches riders both forwards and backwards along a twisting jungle track. With immersive theming, dynamic track switches, and high-speed elements, Jungle Rush is now considered the must-ride attraction in the park.

Rivertown also features themed environments, family-friendly rides, and detailed storytelling elements, making it a standout zone for both thrill seekers and families.
  •  Tiger Island – Dedicated to Tigers Only
Tiger Island remains one of Dreamworld’s most iconic precincts and is exclusively home to Sumatran and Bengal tigers.

The area focuses entirely on tiger conservation, education, and awareness. Guests can attend daily presentations led by experienced handlers and learn about Dreamworld’s global conservation partnerships.

A highlight experience is the Tiger Feed Experience, which allows guests to safely tong-feed a tiger under professional supervision, the only experience of its kind in Queensland.

Note: Dreamworld does not house lions or other big cats. Tiger Island is strictly dedicated to tigers.
  • Thrill Rides & Signature Coasters
Dreamworld continues to be known for its high-speed thrill rides and major roller coasters. From towering drops to intense launches, the park offers adrenaline experiences for teens and adults seeking high-energy attractions.

These rides remain a major drawcard alongside the new Rivertown precinct.
  •  Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland (Replaces DreamWorks Experience)
The former DreamWorks Experience has been completely rethemed and is now Kenny & Belinda’s Dreamland.

This refreshed family precinct focuses on iconic Australian children’s entertainment brands and Dreamworld’s own mascots. Visitors can enjoy themed rides, interactive zones, and character appearances inspired by well-known Australian TV favourites such as The Wiggles and Bananas in Pyjamas.

The area remains a colourful, kid-friendly haven, but no longer features Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, or Madagascar branding.
  • WhiteWater World (Optional Access)
Located next to Dreamworld, WhiteWater World offers slides, wave pools, and splash zones. Depending on ticket type, visitors can combine both parks for a full day of theme park and water park fun.
