Australian National Maritime Museum Ticket Frequently Asked Questions

Is entry to the museum free?
Yes, entry to the permanent galleries is free. However, access to vessels, special exhibitions, and programs requires a See It All ticket or separate event tickets.
What does the “See It All” ticket include?
It gives you access to all galleries, most special exhibitions, and the historic vessels like HMAS Vampire, HMAS Onslow, and the HMB Endeavour replica. Note: Some vessels may close occasionally for maintenance or safety.
Are there any exclusions or restrictions?
Submarine HMAS Onslow: Children must be at least 90 cm tall and able to climb ladders. Prams/strollers can’t be taken aboard vessels (storage is provided). Special events (workshops, harbour cruises, or evening programs) require separate tickets.
What are the opening hours?
Daily from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. During NSW school holidays: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm. Closed on Christmas Day.
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
It’s not compulsory, but highly recommended — especially during weekends, public holidays, and school breaks — to secure your spot and skip the queue.
How long should I plan for a visit?
On average, visitors spend 2–3 hours exploring. If you plan to see all vessels and galleries at a relaxed pace, set aside half a day.
Is the museum family-friendly?
Yes! There are dedicated kids’ programs, school holiday workshops, and the Kids on Deck activity space. Most areas are stroller and wheelchair accessible (except onboard vessels).
How do I get there?
Ferry: Pyrmont Bay Wharf (F4). Light rail: Pyrmont Bay stop. Train: Town Hall Station + 10–15 min walk. Car: Parking available nearby with museum validation.
Is the museum accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes — the galleries are fully accessible, and the museum offers Auslan-interpreted tours, touch tours, and accessible facilities. Some vessels have limited access due to their historic design.
Can I bring food inside?
No outside food is allowed inside the galleries, but there’s an onsite café (Ripples Café) and outdoor spaces where you can sit and enjoy snacks.
