The Petrosains were established on March 25, 1999, as the brainchild of the 4th Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad. The Centre is owned and operated by Petrosains Sdn. Bhd. is the owner of Malaysian oil and gas conglomerate Petronas. Under the captainship of CEO Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, the Petrosains boasts 11 interactive galleries that explore the intriguing world of petroleum.

Visitors can explore the existence of fossils, space, marine, technology, etc. at the centre, emphasizing STEM skills. Explore the wonders of biodiversity and learn about the responsibility towards the ecosystem. The centre also has several workshops, making learning more exciting and engaging.

The Petrosians, the Discovery Centre, features 11 interactive galleries,  each offering unique insights and experiences for visitors. From the vast area of the petroleum industry to contemporary science, the Centre features a wide range of exhibits that cater to all ages and interests. 

Fossil Mysteries: Dive into the intriguing world of history, where you learn about the fascinating truth about life and the past on Earth. The Fossil Mysteries provide a visual idea of the origin and provide valuable insights into the origin of Earth and life. Their interactive displays and hands-on activities let you realize the importance of preserving our planet for future generations.

Speed: The concept of speed is an important component of the science of motion. The Speed Gallery thereby takes us into the realm of speed and discovers the science behind motion, velocity, and speed in our daily lives. Engage students in various activities that demonstrate the principles of speed and motion. 

Sparkz: As speed impotence to science, electricity also has a fair share of impotence. The gallery of Sparks provides visitors with wonders of electricity in the realm of science and technology.
