The wells, palm groves, and verdant areas aided the city’s progress, and by the mid-17th century, Riyadh was characterised by a shallow valley along the Wadi Ḥanīfah. In 1920, the once small village, Riyadh, covering approximately only one square kilometre, had drastically grown to over 2000 square kilometres a century later. This fantastic marvel holds a special place in the hearts of Saudi Arabians, not only as a symbol of the country’s beauty but also as a testament to its geological heritage.   Getting to Riyadh’s Edge of the World  The Edge of the World is located at a 5-minute drive to the starting point at Acacia Valley, marked by GPS coordinates 24.95158 and 45.98759. Approximately 90 km from Riyadh.    Driving to the Edge of the World Travelling is a little risky, so we will unfold the easiest way to get to the destination safely and securely. Travelling to the Edge of the World requires some planning while reaching it via car, which is relatively risky; a 4×4 vehicle is highly recommended. Tours from Riyadh provide transportation to the site, which is convenient and beneficial for first-time visitors to explore.   How to get the Edge of the World  Start your journey from Riyadh and head north on King Khaled Rd. (535) towards Salbouk.  After covering 30 km from Riyaadh, you will reach an intersection and turn left on the 5766 to Jubaylah.  Set the odometer to zero and continue to drive; thus, the road will transition to Route 5762, leading to Sadus.  After 30 km, turn left onto the desert trail at GPS coordinates N24 57 21.2, E46 13 41.6. Drive through the dirt track, and understand; this is the starting point of the off-road ride to the site. Later, you will see a blue Arabic sign approximately 50 metres from the road. Follow the path, passing a fence on your left side., leading to a dam and a ranger’s gate. Turn right and enter Acacia Valley.  Drive alone for the next 20 kilometres. The terrain becomes rockier, and eventually, you finally reach the Edge of the World location. Keep the right at forks, and avoid entering small villages. They are dead ends.  When to visit the site? Since the rangers shut the gate at Acacia Valley by 6:00 p.m., Plan the tour for at least a 2-hour drive to Acacia Valley,  2 hours at the site and another 2 hours for the return trip. Daylight viewing is recommended since navigating the desert landscape at night is risky. You must make it to the Acacia Valley before 6 pm to avoid being stuck and losing the chance to reach the site.  How to catch the best view: Ascending the cliff from the parking area gives you a fantastic view, yet the magical moment happens when you make it to the end. And that pit is where you feel the natural “Edge of the World.” Things to do at the Edge of the World Embark on a Cliffside Hike: Ascend to the summit and experience the thrilling sense of standing on the edge, feeling like you are on the brink of the world. Undoubtedly, this will be your most memorable stargazing experience. Safety in Edge Of the World  Exercise caution near edges due to potential rockslides since there are no warning signs or fences on the site. Stay vigilant, especially if you bring your kids. Choose sturdy footwear suitable for rocky terrain. Avoid wearing sandals or Crocs for the adventure because of the uneven ground. 4×4 vehicles advised for safe access due to soft sand, gravel, and rocky terrain.  Follow emergency protocols, carry essentials  like first aid, water bottles, and sunscreen close at hand.
