Now, for 2025, the Bali Arts Festival has a really meaningful theme: “Jana Kerthi Pramaguna Wikrama” – Uplifting Human Dignity and Excellence. This theme, as we understand it, it focuses on how art can truly elevate us as humans, fostering respect, value, and pushing us towards our best potential. It’s all about recognizing the inherent worth in each of us and striving for excellence in all we do. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss if you’re interested in Balinese dance, Balinese music, Balinese crafts, and the vibrant cultural events in Bali! Add all of this to your things to do in Bali bucket list! Historical Background of the Bali Arts Festival If you’ve ever wondered how did the Bali Arts Festival start?—it all began in 1979 as a local initiative to preserve and promote traditional Balinese arts that were slowly fading. The initiative was the brainchild of the late Professor Ida Bagus Mantra, who was then the Governor of Bali. His vision was to create a platform to preserve and showcase the island’s rich artistic traditions, which were facing increasing pressures from modernization. During the 1980s and 1990s, you would have watched the festival transform from regional celebration to international cultural phenomenon. The program expanded beyond traditional dance and gamelan to include visual arts, literature, culinary demonstrations, and textile fashion shows, while the 1987 construction of Taman Werdhi Budaya Cultural Center provided a permanent festival home. The early 2000s brought a crucial evolution as contemporary interpretations joined traditional forms, engaging younger generations while maintaining cultural integrity. This masterful balance between preservation and innovation solidified the festival’s position, and by 2010, it had become Southeast Asia’s longest-running cultural festival, featuring over 15,000 performers and attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators annually. Recent years saw digital adaptation, with pandemic-era livestreams unexpectedly expanding the festival’s global reach. As its 50th anniversary approaches in 2028, you can see how this event has evolved from cultural preservation initiative to powerful driver of Bali’s creative economy and tourism sector. As each year passed, the festival grew in scale and significance. From adding elaborate opening parades to showcasing rare performances from remote villages, it’s now a cornerstone of Balinese cultural tourism. Today, the Bali Arts Festival is not just an event—it’s a movement, keeping age-old art forms alive while adapting to modern audiences. Where to Go on Easter Holidays in Malaysia: A Complete Guide for Families and Travelers

Planning an Easter holiday in Malaysia can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re trying to balance everyone’s interests, budget, and travel time. With so many destinations to choose from, it’s easy to get stuck in the endless scroll of travel blogs and mixed reviews, unsure of what truly suits your family or travel style. That uncertainty can lead to last-minute bookings, missed experiences, or worse—ending up somewhere that doesn’t live up to your expectations. It’s frustrating when your much-anticipated break turns into a series of compromises instead of quality time and adventure. Though Easter isn’t celebrated with much grandness in Malaysia, you can use this time to visit the best places to visit in Malaysia during Easter. But you’re wondering what are the best places to visit in Malaysia during April. That’s why this guide is here. Whether you’re a family with kids or a traveler looking for something unique, we’ve rounded up the best Easter getaway spots in Malaysia—each offering the right mix of relaxation, culture, and fun. Let’s take the guesswork out of your holiday planning. Why Choose Malaysia for Easter Holidays Why choose Malaysia for your Easter holidays? Let me tell you, it’s a brilliant choice! You’ll find that April in Malaysia offers delightfully warm weather, typically ranging from a comfortable 21 to 32°C, with refreshing, occasional showers. This means you can comfortably explore the outdoors without battling extreme heat, making it perfect for family adventures. Plus, you’ll benefit from lower tourist volumes compared to peak seasons, allowing for a more relaxed and authentic experience. Think less crowds and more opportunities for immersive travel. Though, keep in mind, the West Coast, places like Penang and Langkawi, might see some early rain, while the East Coast stays mostly dry. Due to Malaysia’s location near the equator, it is hot and humid year round, but in April the monsoon season is changing, so you get generally warm and relatively dry conditions. You’ll get breathing rooms at places like Penang’s beaches, Cameron Highlands’ tea plantations, making it a relaxed escape rather than a shoulder-to-shoulder shuffle. Plus, your wallet will thank you—lower crowds mean better deals on stays and activities. So, consider this your invitation to explore the best places to visit in Malaysia during a less crowded time. Easter Celebrations in Malaysia While Malaysia is predominantly Muslim, you’ll find vibrant Easter celebrations throughout the country thanks to its diverse multicultural fabric. Christians make up about 9% of Malaysia’s population, with significant communities in Sabah, Sarawak, and urban centers like Kuala Lumpur and Penang where Easter is celebrated with genuine religious significance and cultural enthusiasm. One highlight you shouldn’t miss is Good Friday in Melaka. The city comes alive with candlelit processions, as devotees make their way to churches, creating a truly atmospheric and spiritual experience. This tradition holds significant historical weight, reflecting Melaka’s long-standing connection to Christianity, dating back to its colonial past. If you’re looking for Easter events in Malaysia, experiencing Good Friday in Melaka is a must. Want to experience it for yourself? You can join the Historical Malacca Tour with Lunch from Kuala Lumpur. It’s way to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site while soaking in the Easter vibe. From historic landmarks to authentic local cuisine, this family-friendly tour adds a meaningful stop to your Easter holiday itinerary. Whether you’re a wide-eyed tourist clutching your camera, a busy bee heading to work, or someone who needs a bit of extra help getting around, Dubai’s got your back. The whole Dubai public transport system is so brilliantly planned, it’s like they read your mind before you even knew what you needed! So forget about those boring car rental queues and astronomical parking fees – I’m about to show you how to navigate Dubai like a total pro. Buckle up, fellow explorers! Let’s get into the ultimate guide to Dubai’s public transportation. Trust me, by the time we’re done, you’ll be zipping around this city of dreams like you’ve lived here all your life! Best Ways to Get Around in Dubai 1. Dubai Metro The backbone of public transportation in Dubai, the Dubai Metro is accessible to all major landmarks in Dubai. The Dubai Metro is the fastest and cheapest mode of transportation in Dubai. The city has 50 metro stations all over the city making up 7 zones and two lines; Red and Green Line which runs through the entire city. The Red Line begins from Rashidiya and ends at Jabel Ali Port, whereas the Green Line begins at Etisalat and ends at Creek Metro Station. The trains are clean, safe, and modern with the stations easy to navigate. Metro Tickets To ride the metro, you can purchase single, return, or day-pass tickets, or opt for a cashless smart card called Nol cards. Nol cards provide a contactless and convenient method of paying fares. You can easily recharge them at metro stations or online. Dubai Metro Timings The Dubai Metro operates daily, with trains running every 3-8 minutes during peak hours and 7 – 15 minutes during non-peak hours. The operational hours are Monday to Thursday: 5:00 am to 12:00 amFriday: 5:00 am to 1:00 amSaturday and Sunday: 8:00 am to 12 am 2. Dubai Public Buses If you’re considering a low-cost option to travel around Dubai, then Dubai public buses are the best option. The buses have connections from Dubai Airport with routes to all major neighbourhoods in Dubai. They have a large bus system featuring approximately 193 bus routes and 1500 stations. To beat the Dubai summers, the RTA has built air-conditioned buses and bus stations and you have seats dedicated for the women and elderly.  The Buses operate 24/7, with services running as frequently as every 20 minutes. Be sure to check your map to navigate the extensive network. Payments are only accepted through Nol cards, so ensure your card is topped up with sufficient credit.  If you want to travel and explore Dubai at night, the buses ply from 11:30 pm to 6:00 am going through major areas and providing you with transportation facilities during the night. Check out their official Dubai RTA bus station list  to learn more about the routes 3. Taxis in Dubai One noticeable thing in Dubai is its ubiquitous taxis, visible at every nook and corner of the city.  Though it is a convenient way to get around in Dubai, it’s a very expensive public transport in Dubai. Fortunately, cab rates for all the taxi companies in Dubai are the same as they are controlled by the RTA ( UAE Govt.). In case, you urgently need a cab, you can call the RTA for a cab ( 8009090) but the taxi fare would be high. Keep in mind that the minimum wage to pay to travel anywhere is AED 12. Taxis outside the airport follow the meter system, starting at AED 25.  You also need to note that the Red Light on the taxi indicates that it is occupied. To hail a cab you need to look for the yellow light. Additionally, you can book taxis through the following apps such as Uber, Careem, S’hail app and Hala Taxi. 4. Abras It is a different feel altogether to travel in the traditional public transport of Dubai, majorly found in Bur Dubai and Deira. This mode of transport is a present day link to the historic days of Dubai. They are cheap but will offer you a unique experience giving you a glimpse into the city’s ancient roots. It’s the most affordable Dubai public transport with tickets costing as low as AED. The Dubai Abra timings are from 6:00 am to 12:00 am every day, running every four minutes throughout the day. 5. Monorails In Dubai The first monorail in the UAE was introduced in Dubai back in 2009.
