Experience the Grandeur of Ottoman Luxury: The Historical Turkish Bath

The historical Turkish public bath is called a “Hammam”. The Ottoman Empires considered this Hammam as the best and traditional way to relax and self-care. Nowadays, people are more focused towards their self-care. Hammam is one good option for people with such thoughts. However, there are a few protocols that need to be abided. This article from Thrillark helps you to understand Hammam in detail. What to expect? The Turkish bath is a Middle East-originated practice. It represents a community gathering. This type of public bathing requires movement from one chamber to another. Both genders will have a separate bath area, and a person of the same gender as bathers will be the attendants. A male attendant is called Tellak, whereas a female attendant is called a Natir. There will be dedicated trained people to massage your body per your needs. A detoxifying bathing experience. Prerequisites for Turkish Bath Before encountering the World’s best bathing experience, we must adhere to some prerequisites. Bathers need to purchase these items before entering a Hammam. Bathers in Hammam will not be naked. They will be wearing their undergarments or swimwear wrapped with a Peshtemal towel. Peshtemal is a Turkey towel made of natural fibres. Bathers are preferred to purchase this towel before their bath. Scrub and sponge, known as Kese, should be purchased for a perfect hygienic bathing experience. It is necessary to purchase waterproof slippers, olive oil-based soaps, shampoo, and dry fluffy towels individually for health and safety purposes. It is recommended not to wear any makeup or skin products on the body before the bath. The following people are not allowed to use the Turkish bath. Expectant Mothers Pregnant women People with cardiovascular illness People with kidney-related illness People with fever and cold People with sensitive skin or skin-related problems Women in their Menstrual cycle People with Sensitivity to heat issues People with the above-listed symptoms should refrain from using the public community Turkish bath. Every Hammam recommends its bathers bring their items to avoid any communicable infection transfers from one person to another. However, every Hammam will have a dedicated shop to sell all these products. One can choose to visit the bazaar and purchase or buy at Hammams. Nowadays, shops are selling Turkish Hammam gift boxes containing all the necessary items. People visiting Turkey can also prefer purchasing this gift box. Process of Turkish Bath A Turkish bath is a fusion of steam and hydrotherapy. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete the process. The Turkish bath centre welcomes the bathers with a traditional beverage like Tea or Gazoz [Sweet Soda beverage]. Then, the customer enters a series of small individual changing rooms. The rooms will have a bed-like platform for relaxing and lockers to safeguard all your valuable things. The next step in Hammam is to move bathers to a large and circular marble Diaz steam room. This high-roof steam room gets its heat through an external furnace. A machine blows the hot air into the room. It is called Hararet. The elevated marble Diaz in the centre of the room is called the Naval Stone. The bathers lie on this stone to experience the warm air through the ducts in the stone. Massaging and washing take place after some time. Once the massage is over, bathers will move to the individual sinks called Kurna, fitted along the walls. The sinks will have both hot and cold water taps. Individuals can fill the sink with water of their desired heat. A metal or copper bowl called Tas is used as a mug to pour the water from the sink. Turks prefer a cold shower at this last stage for a soothing experience and to bring the body temperature to a regular temperature. Bathers get a Sherbet or Ottoman-style traditional fruit juice or Turkish tea. Why Turkish Bath? Across the World, different regions have their bathing style, like the Russian and Moroccan baths. But why should one choose a Turkish bath? The infrastructure of the traditional Turkish bath is entirely different from that of other baths. There are small rooms of dry heat and not the regular saunas. The exposure to this warm air for 10 to 15 minutes helps in oozing out of sweat. This warmness increases blood circulation and opens the pores for deep cleansing and exfoliation. In Saunas, the humidity will be 20%, whereas, in such a Turkish bath setup, the humidity will be 100%. These high temperatures and humidity are generated using high-tech machines and are limescale-free. The bathers enter the communal pool, which is made of marble stone and has high roof ceilings, ornamentally constructed sinks and walls, and skylights for natural lighting and airflow. There is a belief that this process helps our muscles to relax and become smooth. This premise helps the bathers relax alone for as long as they wish. This infrastructure and process are more outcome-oriented than other bathing techniques. Maintenance of Turkish Bath Area The maintenance of the Turkish bath area is also one major factor on why people choose Turkish over other baths. Turks daily clean the Heated Naval stones, Kurnas and Tas, to ensure no bacterial communicable infections spread to the visitors. Cleaning the surfaces of the Hammam, walls, and dressing rooms are also equally important since it is full of moisture and water throughout the day. Turks clean this on a daily basis once the Hammam is empty. Periodic inspections of Steamers and Windpipe ways are also happening to ensure there is no wear and tear. Materials and accessories used are washed and cleaned on a regular basis. Benefits of Turkish Hammam There are many benefits of Hammam. Though there are not many studies to prove this theoretically, many practical experiences have confirmed these benefits. Reduces the Stress All of us are living the most stressful life. This bath will reduce the stress. Skin Cleansing The steam bath can help in cleansing the pores in the skin. Reduces toxins The process of warm

Take a desert safari and experience dune bashing, camel riding, and traditional Emirati hospitality

The golden sands for miles spread a charm and invite travelers to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for an adventurous desert safari. Past the shimmery skyscrapers in Dubai and lavish hotels in Abu Dhabi, there is a realm of deserts which promises more than just adrenaline rush, it also offers an opportunity to understand the true essence of Emirati hospitality. Explore the surprises in the desert as you go dune bashing and camel riding under the endless skies, through the vast stretches of sand. The Prelude: Setting the Stage for Adventure Leaving the bustle of the urban city life toward your adventure in the desert ignites an anticipation. Desert-safari operators provide different packages, all offering a mixture of fun and insight into local culture. The scenery changes as soon as you have crossed the city limits and then the sand dunes spread across like a golden wave beckoning you deeper inside in the Arabian wilderness. Dune Bashing: Adrenaline amid the Sands Explore the heart pumping experience called Dune bashing, an adrenaline ridden dance of cars around sandy uphills and downhills. The skilled drivers masterfully move their way across the undulating dunes causing the car to dip down sharp declines and rise over the next sand dune. You feel the adrenaline as the desert becomes your playground and each rise and dip induces laughter and excitement. Dune Bashing requires experienced drivers coupled with well-maintained state-of-the-art 4×4 vehicles which maintain a delicate mix of thrill and safety. During the golden hour (either sunrise or sunset), the scenery becomes even more fascinating as it gives off a soft glow that casts a magical backdrop for this thrilling adventure. Sunset Serenity: A Desert Canvas Painted in Hues In the twilight, the desert becomes a palette colored with shades of orange and pink. Take a pause in your journey through the deserts, soaking in the magnificent view of the setting sun. The sunset in the deserts is a peaceful interlude before your next adventure of the safari. Traditional Bedouin Camp: A Oasis of Culture The desert safari is not only an exciting experience but also a holistically engaging one where you get an opportunity to learn about culture and people. Explore the traditional Bedouin camps located in between the dunes. Upon arrival, travelers are welcomed by age-old Emarati customs paving the way towards a cultured night. Camel Riding: A Majestic Journey Through Time Camel rides provide a more relaxed way of traversing the desert as the night sets in; an experience that is every bit as magical as going on a quick jeep ride. The iconic “ships of the desert” sway rhythmically across the stretches of sand unveiling picturesque scenes for you. These soft giant animals are reminiscent of when Bedouins used them to pursue their nomadic way of life years ago. Camel riding goes far beyond being just a way of transport; it serves as a gateway to the authenticity of Emarati culture. Camel, a sign of resilience in the harsh environment of desert, transports you across the dunes giving unique views of the vast horizons on all sides. Stargazing: A Celestial Spectacle As the darkness sets in the desert, the vast night sky unveils a wondrous show. Away from the city’s artificial lights, the starry sky spread over the deserts like a shimmering canvas of constellations. Most desert safaris involve stargazing sessions where you can look up and wonder at the beautiful spectacle of stars while relaxing on comfy cushions. Cultural Performances: Dance, Music, and Storytelling At the end of the day, in the Bedouin camps, evenings are spent watching the traditional Emirati performances which bring the desert into life. The region’s cultural diversity is exemplified through folk dances like ‘Ayyalah’ and ‘Al Razfa’. The rhythmic beats of traditional instruments, dancer’s twists and twirls in amazing costumes will take you into a world of art that has been inherited generation after generation. Another integral part of Emirati tradition is storytelling, where bedouin stories of deserts, ancient traditions and bedouin life are woven into captivating narratives of old bedouins. These stories are shared by travelers as they sit around the bonfire while enjoying Arabic coffee. Culinary Delights: Feasting Under the Stars Desert safaris are incomplete without tasting the delicious traditional Emirati food. A Bedouin camp is turned into a haven of delicacies with succulent grilled meat, fragrant rice dishes, followed by different types of desserts. Dates, which may be paired with Arabic coffee, are a sign of hospitality and a prelude to the flavors of the UAE. Overnight Camping: Napping Under a Blanket of Stars Some desert safaris also provide an overnight stay in a camp for the thrill seekers. The dunes offer a retreat that uses bedouin style tents equipped with modern amenities. Sleeping underneath a sky full of stars and the tender whisperings of the desert’s air, is a rare chance to feel the native nature of the deserts at its best. Sunrise: A Spectacular Dawn in the Desert Wake up to an amazing display of colors in the desert at dawn. Early morning offers a serene moment for contemplation. It can also be an opportunity for a gentle stroll through the sand dunes. Observe the new patterns emerge in the new light of dawn as the sun rises and long shadows cast upon the surface of the desert. Conservation and Responsible Tourism: Nurturing the Desert Ecosystem The attractiveness of the desert safari is increasing with each passing day, and this has resulted in an increased emphasis on responsible tourism and conservation. The tour operators in the UAE implement sustainability, which ensures the fragile ecosystem of the desert is preserved. This includes employing environmentally friendly means for conducting dune bashing, reducing the environmental impact of the camping grounds, and teaching the visitors’ on the need of conserving the environment in which they are visiting.

The Petronas Twin Towers: More Than Just a Landmark—A Journey into Malaysian Architecture and Culture

Malaysia has inherited an eclectic range of architecture from its rich historical past. Inspiring by European architecture, the famous site of the Famosa fort in Melaka—the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers—is one of the visible epitomes that showcase the country’s rich heritage and history. Additionally, the peninsula is home to some of the earlier civilizations discovered dating back over 2000 years. Excavations in the 224-square-kilometre Bujang Valley in Kedah have uncovered remnants of a large clay-brick oven, a jetty, areas for smelting iron, temple complexes, and what is thought to be the first Malay Hindu-Buddhist kingdom in Peninsular Malaysia. These findings suggest that the valley was a sophisticated hub for trade and culture.   While wondering about things to do in Malaysia, Join with Thrillark as we explore the Petronas Twin Towers, a symbol of Malaysia’s past, present, and future, and discover what makes them more than just a landmark. About Petronas Towers The Petronas Twin Towers, also known as KLCC Twin Tower, is a pair of high-tall office buildings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, considered the world’s tallest structures. The towers are built to house the headquarters of Petros, Malaysia’s national petroleum company. Designs by renowned architect Cesar Pelli Abs were finalised in 1998. Each tower features an identical eight-lobbed circular design consisting of 88 stories of occupiable space and a pyramid-shaped pinnacle crowned by a slender steel spire.   The tower’s total height is 1483 feet, which includes 242 feet for the pinnacle and spire. The buildings are supported by 16 robust columns along their perimeter. The exterior sheathing consists of stainless steel and glass. Connecting the two towers lies Askybridge at 41st and 42nd stories, adding distinctive features to the towers.   More than just a landmark. They are a testament to the ingenuity, ambition, and vision of a nation that has rapidly transformed itself into a global player in the 21st century. They reflect Malaysia’s diverse culture, a fusion of tradition and modernity characteristic of this Southeast Asian nation. The design of the towers, inspired by Islamic architecture, speaks to the country’s religious heritage, while their state-of-the-art facilities represent its embrace of the future. Experience the Ultimate KL City Views from Petronas Twin Towers Immerse yourself in the discovery deck of the world’s tallest twin towers. Stand above the cloud and feel the sense of dominance. Ascend to the 170-metre futuristic tower. The high-speed lift takes you 170 metres to Level 86, where the doors open to a stunning view over Malaysia’s capital city. These Double Decks sky bridges act as a path for tenants in the building to move from one tower to another and function as an emergency exit route. Also, Discover the Twin Towers’ construction and history while purchasing a souvenir from the gift store. Maximise fun with an expert guide! Without a tour guide and seeing the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, is incomplete. Thirty individuals can see the amazing views of the city during each of the 36 sessions offered daily.  You will receive a thorough understanding of the towers and their history after purchasing your tickets during a 45-minute guided tour that spans the tower’s three storeys.  The first stop is the 41st-floor Skybridge, elevating you 170 metres above street level.
